Manchester United vs Fulham Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Even though United have not been the most exciting and played their usual expensive football, they have managed to stay competitive across the last five outings. Against fierce rivals Leeds, a fixture filled with drama and attacking flair, United had to settle for a point after coming back from a goal down. The trip to Burnley displayed flashes of brilliance, but again, defensive frailties cost them maximum points. 

After back-to-back draws, the Red Devils lost to Brighton and were knocked out of the FA Cup, adding to the disappointments that followed United. However, a managerial change was made, and Michael Carrick was given the honour of returning to the club as the interim manager. Carrick would need to hit the ground running as his first game in charge was the Manchester derby.

With renewed energy and new life restored, United were relentless in their performance against Man City, which resulted in a well-deserved victory over their city rivals. That display proved they are still a side with huge potential and served as preparation, as league leaders Arsenal were the next challenge for Carrick. 

The Gunners have been the standard this season, but United were the better team on the day, which made it back-to-back victories for Carrick. Now with a chance to build momentum, Carrick will be determined to continue this hot streak, especially with home-ground advantage. 

The last five games have proven that Fulham are more than capable of playing the disruptor, but fine margins and lapses in concentration have too often turned promising performances into self-inflicted setbacks. An impressive draw against Liverpool displayed their willingness to fight until the final whistle, which was followed by a victory over Chelsea, demonstrating their ability to challenge even the best.

The FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough was not straightforward, but a dominant second-half performance saw the Cottagers overwhelm the Championship side to claim a spot in the next round. Leeds was next up, and in a fixture that looked destined to end in a goalless draw, the Whites stole the victory late on to hand Fulham their first defeat in five games. 

Back at Craven Cottage, Brighton exploited spaces, went toe-to-toe, and tested Fulham’s resolve, but the Cottagers stood up and made home-ground advantage count in a hard-fought victory. After a tough matchup against the Seagulls, Fulham now has the opportunity to hinder United’s progress and claim a much-needed three points on enemy territory.
