Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic are among the clubs interested in signing Rob Apter on loan, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
Young gun Apter signed for Championship Charlton Athletic ahead of the new campaign, but has found opportunities hard to come by recently at the Addicks.
The 22-year-old opened his account for the club at the fourth time of asking and was named the Charlton's August Player of the Month, but has not played since the start of the year.
In the past two months Apter has made just a solitary start for the London club.
Addicks’ boss Nathan Jones is willing to allow the winger to leave during the winter window in order to get regular football and further enhance his development.
Blackpool are eager to bring the player back to Bloomfield Road six months after selling him for an undisclosed fee.
At the time then boss Steve Bruce admitted the club did not want to allow Apter to leave but ultimately respected the desire of the player.
Our sources understand talks are underway between the two clubs. It would prove a popular addition to Ian Evatt’s squad and would give Apter the chance to reignite the spark which earned him his move to the Championship in the first place.
But our sources understand the Seasiders are only one of a handful of League One clubs who have been put on high alert now Apter has become available heading into the final days of the transfer window.
Steven Schumacher is in need of a winger after Amario Cozier-Duberry was ruled out for two months due to a ligament injury in his knee.
And our sources have been told they have approached Charlton regarding Apter.
Bolton boss Schumacher is also keen to reunite with striker Ryan Hardie this month as he looks to further bolster his attacking options.
Wigan and Rotherham United are also thought to be interested in a short-term deal for the player.
Up The Leagues
Apter signed his first professional contract with the Seasiders in 2020 and made over 50 competitive appearances for the club.
He earned the League Two Young Player of the Season award in whilst on loan at Tranmere Rovers, where he came through the academy, in the 2023/24 campaign and scored eight goals in League One last term as he earned a move to The Valley.
