Exclusive: Calvin Ramsay Poised for Liverpool Exit with Scotland Switch on the Cards

Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay is set to leave the club and return to Scotland to revive his career. Despite high expectations, he has struggled with injuries and failed to make an impact, prompting the club to seek a deal for him in the Scottish league. With limited playing time at Liverpool, Ramsay is looking for a fresh start away from the English top flight.

Calvin Ramsay is ready to quit Liverpool for Scotland to get his career back on track, SportsBoom sources can exclusively reveal.

The Scottish defender arrived from Aberdeen in 2022, after being named the Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year, with bags of potential but has failed to make the grade at the Premier League champions.

Ramsay was the Dons’ record sale at the time of his £4.2million Premier League switch.

Liverpool are also understood to be desperate to get the right-back off the books to open up a much-needed non-homegrown player slot in their squad.

Our sources have been told that representatives of the youngster and the club are working hard to find him a deal north of the border.

It is understood Kilmarnock rejected the chance to sign the player after running the rule on him during his loan move in the second half of last season.

Tough Time in England

Still only 22, Ramsay has plenty of time on his side to come good, but it will be away from the English top flight.

He has struggled with a number of injuries since moving from Pittodrie to Anfield and underwent surgery during the 2022-23 campaign.

Ramsay, who received a sole Scotland cap in 2022, has made just two appearances for the English giants, a substitute in a Champions League game against Napoli and starting an EFL Cup game against Derby County.

Loans to Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Kilmarnock have also failed to bring out the best in the player, who is looking for an end to his Anfield nightmare.

Hugo Etitike’s arrival also saw Ramsay give up his 22 shirt number at the club as Liverpool look to offload the youngster this summer.
