Ipswich Town vs Wolves Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction
Venue: Portman Road Kickoff Time: 15:00 (UK Time) There are only nine points separating these two teams in the Premier League. For Wolves, survival is still firmly in their grasp and looking incredibly likely. That isn’t to say that they are able to sit on their laurels and coast through to the end of the season though. Ipswich will not give up their fight for survival, no matter how unlikely it may look. Under Kieran McKenna, they have played some incredible football and will hope they can end the season with a positive showing.

Ipswich Current Form – DLLLL
The biggest question circling around Ipswich at the moment is what sort of mindset they come into this fixture with. It feels as though they need a miracle to survive from their current position – but under McKenna, there is no question they will fight all the way. You feel a little bit for Ipswich, but such is the competitive nature of the Premier League.
Key Players to Watch
- Liam Delap: The 22-year-old has enjoyed an incredible season so far. You would think that if they were to face relegation, there would be many clubs who would be interested in his services. Delap will be important once again here and they will be hoping he is once again able to register a stellar performance.
- Omari Hutchinson: He signed with Ipswich for a club-record fee and has so far lived up to his price tag. Operating through the middle of the pitch for Ipswich, Hutchinson has shown a real propensity for both attacking ability and a defensive willingness. Keep an eye on him here.
- Leif Davis: The left-back has been spoken about so many times for Ipswich this season, but he really is just an incredible talent. Working up and down the flank for his side and contributing to both his team’s offensive and defensive requirements.
Ipswich Team News
The Tractor Boys are still having to contend with a few injuries going into this fixture. Axel Tuanzebe is sidelined with a hamstring injury, Wes Burns will miss out due to his cruciate ligament injury and Kalvin Philips is still out with a foot injury.
Wolves Current Form – LWLDW
As we said earlier, they have a handful of points in hand over the bottom three. However, they still have a bit of work to do to ensure they survive the drop. Matheus Cunha’s suspension would have certainly had an impact on the quality in the side, but his absence might have also added mental doubt amongst the squad – he is after all their best player.
Key Players to Watch
- Jorgen Strand Larsen: The Norwegian striker has been worth his weight in gold for Wolves this season. Scoring at will but also adding to the creative threat they hold through their attacking midfield and central strikers, he will certainly be one to watch here.
- Rayan Ait-Nouri: A left-back who is also happy to work his way up and down the pitch. Aside from the fact that he brings a physical and robust approach to his defensive duties, the Algerian has also been a contributor to Wolves’ attacking prowess.
- Maximilian Kilman: His leadership and experience have been incredible for Wolves and his defensive contributions have seen him rise through the ranks at the club. A consistent performer and one who is likely to be vital at the back end of this season.
Wolves Team News
Wolves have been quite fortunate insofar as their injury concerns are concerned. Leon Chiwome remains sidelined due to a cruciate ligament injury and Yerson Mosquera is still struggling with a knee injury, but beside that, they have a full squad available.
Predicted Line-Up
Ipswich: 4-2-3-1
Palmer, Davis, Greaves, Woolfenden, O’Shea, Cajuste, Phillips, Enciso, Hutchinson, Philogene, Delap.
Wolves: 3-4-2-1
Sa, Doherty, Kilman, Gomes, Semedo, Gomes, Andre, Ait-Nouri, Munetsi, Bellegarde, Strand Larsen.
Suggested Bets
Here are suggested bets for this Premier League encounter.
Ipswich/Draw: Considering the relatively good form the Tractor Boys have at home; we are backing them to come away from this encounter with something to show for. 5/10 (1.5) with Midnite
Under 2.5 Goals: Despite the defensive fragility in both of these two teams, the impending pressure of the relegation scrap might result in a really cagey affair. 8/10 (1.8) with William Hill
Both Teams to Score (No): It is another betting angle available with the goals consideration in mind. Back Both Teams to Score (No) at 1/1 (2.0) with Betway
Value Bets
If you are looking for betting options with a little more risk and a lot more value, our suggestion is the value bet options.
Liam Delap to be Booked: Back the striker to find his name in the book once again here. He is an aggressive player who leads the league stats for fouls committed. 3/1 (4.0) with Betfred
Correct Score (1:1): It is a result which offers real value and reflects a tightly contested match, which we think will be the order of the day. 52/10 (6.2) with Kwiff
Prediction: Ipswich Win/Draw Double Chance
Back Kieran McKenna’s men to come away from this encounter with something to show for it. They have played incredible football at times and in truth, have been desperately unlucky.
If Wolves are even slightly disillusioned – we back the hosts to make them pay.
