“I Don’t Need People to Tell Me I’m Not Ready”: Beau Greaves Defiant After Grand Slam Exit

Beau Greaves may have exited the Grand Slam of Darts early, but the women’s world number one proved she belongs among the elite. After pushing Van Gerwen and Anderson to the wire, Greaves brushed off critics with defiance, insisting she doesn’t need anyone to tell her she’s not ready for the big leagues.

Women’s world number one Beau Greaves may have fallen short of reaching the knockout stages at the 2025 Grand Slam of Darts, but she certainly won’t be leaving Wolverhampton with her head down.

‘Group of Death’

Drawn into what many dubbed the tournament’s ‘group of death’, Greaves faced two of the sport’s biggest names, former world champions Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson, as well as rising German star Nico Springer.

Despite showing her class, Greaves was edged out in tight contests against both Van Gerwen and Anderson, averaging over 100 in each and taking both to a deciding leg. She did, however, finish her campaign on a high with a 5-3 win over Springer, though by that stage, her elimination had already been confirmed.

Taking Confidence into What Comes Next

Reflecting on her performances, Greaves was upbeat about her display and eager to carry the momentum into what promises to be a defining end to her year.

"It's been a weird tournament. I've played well in the first two games, but it's always nice to finish on a winning and obviously go out the tournament on a high, but it's been positive. I will take confidence from it and move on.”

"I've enjoyed all three games I've had, and I've just been unlucky. I've played well and just not got the results.”

Praise From Legends of the Game

The 21-year-old, who recently became only the second woman ever to earn a PDC Tour Card on merit, has quickly established herself as one of the brightest young prospects in the sport. Her fearless approach on the oche has not only earned her admiration from fans but also glowing praise from some of the biggest names in darts.

Van Gerwen was effusive after their match, saying: "If you look to her talent and what she's achieved so far, in my opinion there's never been a better women's darts player in life.”

And Anderson, who also narrowly overcame Greaves, echoed those sentiments.

"She's going to cause so much trouble next year on the circuit. She's fantastic.”

Not Everyone’s a Fan

Not everyone has been as complimentary, however. Former world champion Gerwyn Price dismissed suggestions that Greaves should be considered for the 2025 Premier League lineup, bluntly stating: “I think that’s a joke.”

Blocking Out the Noise

When asked about the growing media attention and reactions from fellow professionals, Greaves made it clear she’s not interested in outside noise.

“I don’t need people to tell me I’m not ready for the big leagues,” Greaves added.

"I know that I know I’m not ready for the big leagues. That’s just down to me and my family to get through, no one else.”

“I don’t really like the hype around all of it. I don’t really want people talking about that. I just want to get on with it.”

Greaves will now turn her attention to the upcoming World Youth Championship final before heading to Alexandra Palace for the PDC World Championship, where her recent performances will no doubt make her one to watch.

"I think I am good enough. I think I've shown it in little bits. I've got a long way to go. I’m well aware of what's ahead of me, but other than that, I feel good. I feel confident. I’ve just got to push on towards the end of the year, and towards the next two years."

With the composure and talent, she’s already shown on the biggest stage, few would bet against Greaves making her mark at the top level sooner rather than later.
