Luke Humphries Backs Beau Greaves to 'Flourish' After Earning Historic PDC Tour Card

World number one Luke Humphries has praised Beau Greaves after she became only the second woman to earn a PDC Tour Card on merit. Humphries believes Greaves will “flourish” if she accepts the card but urged the media to give her space, saying she has the talent to break into the top 64 within two years.

World number one Luke Humphries has backed Beau Greaves to “flourish” after the women’s number one made history by becoming just the second woman ever to earn a PDC Tour Card on merit.

Greaves secured her card via the PDC Development Tour, guaranteeing her place on the professional circuit from the start of the 2026 season.

Following the conclusion of Development Tour Event 22, it became mathematically impossible for her to drop out of the top two in the rankings. She currently sits second behind Cam Crabtree, who has also confirmed his Tour Card.

Lisa Ashton was the first woman to achieve the feat, doing so in 2020 through Q School, and Greaves now joins her in the sport’s history books.

A Decision to Make

However, while Greaves has earned the right to compete on the PDC Pro Tour, she still faces a big decision. Should she accept the Tour Card, she would no longer be able to compete in WDF events, including the Women’s World Championship, a tournament she has dominated, winning three years in a row.

Greaves has been vocal about her love for the WDF Women’s World Championship and has previously declined the chance to play at Alexandra Palace for the PDC World Championship. She may have a similar choice to make again this Christmas.

Her sister Bobbi [@bobgreaves_x] appeared to hint that Beau will take up the Tour Card, writing on social media platform X: “My girl is now officially a tour card holder.”

Humphries Predicts Beau to Flourish

For now, fans and players alike await her decision, but one man who’s certain of her potential is Humphries.

Speaking after his BOYLESports World Grand Prix semi-final victory over Danny Noppert, Humphries praised Greaves for her achievement and predicted big things ahead.

“Yeah, amazing. I'm quite proud of her. I think she's an amazing player and she deserves it,” Humphries told SportsBoom.co.uk.

“She's been a real great player on the secondary tours this year. She's good on the challenge tour, good on the development tour and she'll be real threat going forward for all the players. Not just for me but for everyone.”

“I predict that she'll flourish playing in it. She'll probably think that she's got no pressure on her shoulders, and she hasn't. I think she'll do really well.”

“It’s totally down to Beau”

Humphries is no stranger to facing Greaves, having ended her historic UK Open run earlier this year at Butlin’s Minehead, where she became the first woman ever to reach the fourth round.

When asked if he personally hopes Greaves will accept the Tour Card and return to the Ally Pally stage, Humphries made it clear he supports her either way.

“I don't have an opinion on that whatsoever. It's totally down to her. I don't hope she does one or the other. If she picks to go in the WDF and wants to be a four-time world champion, then fair play to her. That's her prerogative. If she wants to come in the PDC world championships, then fair play to her as well. It's totally down to her, whatever she picks.”

Potential to be One of the Best

If she does take up the card, Humphries believes Greaves has the ability to break into the sport’s elite and retain her status beyond the initial two-year period.

“Of course, she has two years to do it, doesn’t she,” he said.

“If she's relaxed and she's got no pressure on her shoulders yes, I believe she'd be top 64 within the two years for sure.”

A Strict Warning

But Humphries also issued a word of caution to the media, urging restraint and patience to avoid placing unnecessary pressure on the 21-year-old.

“The important thing is that the media don't put pressure on her. If we keep talking about her too much and keep putting her name all the time in the headlines, it'll just put pressure on her.”

“It is important that you guys as the media, give her a bit of space and just let her try and do well.”

With her Tour Card secured and another major decision on the horizon, Greaves stands on the brink of another defining chapter in her young career, and with the backing of the world number one, her potential to thrive at the top level looks brighter than ever.
