Former world champion Gerwyn Price has revealed the secret to dethroning teenage sensation and reigning world champion Luke Littler, and it all comes down to mindset.

The Welshman stormed into the quarterfinals of the 2025 BoyleSports World Grand Prix with what appeared to be a routine victory over recent World Cup of Darts winner Josh Rock, setting up a mouthwatering clash with Littler in the next round.

No Special Treatment for Littler

Unlike many of his rivals on the PDC circuit, Price insists he doesn’t prepare any differently depending on his opponent, a mentality he believes was key to his early dominance over the 18-year-old.

Price famously went on a six-match winning streak against Littler earlier in the year, a run that was eventually halted on Night 10 of the Premier League. Since then, their rivalry has flipped, with Littler now unbeaten in their last six encounters, a reflection of just how fiercely competitive their battles have become.

“I don’t care who I play, it doesn’t matter. If it’s any of the Lukes [Littler or Humphries], Michael [van Gerwen], anybody. If I get off like I did today, and up my scoring, then I’ll win,” Price declared.

“I’m here to win this tournament and I believe I can win it. I’m not scared of anybody.”

The ‘Key Ingredient’ Revealed

The ‘Iceman’ believes the key ingredient to beating Littler is simple, he doesn’t care who is standing across from him. Price says he focuses solely on the board, trusting that his best game is good enough to overcome anyone on tour, including the teenage world champion.

“I think the key ingredient is just that I don't care. I don't care who I play. I play the board,” he said.

“I know if I play my A game, then nine times out of 10, I'll win.”

Price also drew comparisons between Littler and darts legend Phil Taylor, suggesting the young superstar has already developed an aura that intimidates opponents before a dart is even thrown, but not him.

“I think all the other players are scared of him before they even get on the board. Like Phil Taylor used to be years ago.”

That intimidation factor, Price admits, might work on most of the PDC field, but not on him.

“A hundred percent. They all play the player. I don’t play the player.”

As he gears up for another high-stakes showdown with Littler, Price’s message is clear, the name on the other side of the stage doesn’t matter.

The Iceman only plays the board, and when he’s on his game, he believes nobody can stop him.
