Exclusive: West Ham Keen to Offer Striker Callum Wilson New Deal if Produces The Premier League Goods

West Ham are keen to offer striker Callum Wilson a new contract if he can deliver the goods this season, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The former England hitman was snapped up on a free transfer by the Hammers this summer.

And the experienced 33-year-old marksman has wasted little time in hitting the ground running, scoring his first goal for his new club in an impressive 3-0 away win over Nottingham Forest.

Wilson has been used an impact substitute so far this season, but the nine-cap international hopes he can force his way into the Hammers’ starting line-up.

And our sources have learnt that both club and player are keen to extend his stay in East London, providing he can prove his worth this term.

The former Newcastle United was linked with a move to Everton and Burnley in the summer, but he bought into Hammers’ boss Graham Potter’s blueprint for success this season.

And despite a shaky start, which sees Potter’s charges languishing near the bottom of the table, Wilson is confident the club turn their frustrating fortunes around.

HOT FORM

Ironically, Wilson scored 12 goals in 16 appearances against the Hammers when he played for Magpies.

But the ex-Bournemouth and Coventry centre-forward recently revealed he had “no problem” with anyone who doubted his ability in the latter stages of his career respectively.

Speaking on the Hammers’ official podcast Iron Cast, Wilson stressed: “If people doubt me, no problem.

“Once you get your first goal as a striker, well they can come likes buses.

“It was a nice moment scoring my first goal for the club, I came off the bench with the mindset to score and add something different for the team.

“There’s a lot of international quality in this squad, once it all clicks together then I’ve seen it before at my previous clubs.”
