Aaron Ramsdale of Newcastle United saves the fourth penalty from Alex Jimenez
With a little over a month of the season remaining, Newcastle and Bournemouth are fighting for the scraps as they chase Brentford and the UECL playoffs.
Although neither team will feel threatened by the relegation battle, the Magpies and the Cherries are also unlikely to advance beyond the mid-table places.
It has been a fall from grace for Newcastle, compared to a fifth-place finish last season, while Bournemouth are fighting to replicate last term’s outcome.

Newcastle United Current Form – LWWLL
As Newcastle aim to salvage any positives from a dismal campaign, any further losses or draws could see them slip further in the bottom half of the table.
Unfortunately, the worst possible outcome happened at Selhurst Park, with the Magpies falling 1-2 to Crystal Palace after conceding in the 94th minute.
Before the March international break, Newcastle also conceded a last-minute goal in a 1-2 loss against Sunderland to fumble the chance to gain ground.
The weeks before were successful for the Magpies, by comparison, recording a 1-0 win over Chelsea and a surprise 2-1 win over Manchester United.
Looking back into late February, Newcastle would have rued their 2-3 defeat against Everton, which has emphasised how tough they have found things.
The St James’ Park tenants are now 14th in the standings, nine points clear of Leeds United in 15th, as the tight battle in the mid-table positions unfolds.

Key Players to Watch
- Anthony Gordon: Having led the way for Newcastle’s attack this season, the English forward has notched six goals and two assists. He has been heavily relied on by coach Eddie Howe, with 23 starts in 25 games, and seems to have bounced back from a dip in form in February.
- Nick Woltemade: The German forward, currently on loan from Crystal Palace, has assumed the contributions mantle with seven goals and three assists. With Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes likely to miss the Bournemouth game, Woltemade would need to keep those scoring boots on as the Premier League run-in progresses.
- Malick Thiaw: Another German making waves in Newcastle upon Tyne, Thiaw has recorded solid statistics in terms of perfect defensive outings, tackles per game, balls recovered per game, and clearances per game. The defender has also contributed four goals as the Magpies aim for a major team effort.
Newcastle United News
The Magpies have had bad news on the injury front, with star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and top defender Fabian Schar possibly missing the Bournemouth game, and Emil Krafth still sidelined with a knee injury.
AFC Bournemouth Current Form – DDDDW
Bournemouth are in a similar position to Newcastle, league-wise, sitting in a clustered mid-table and hoping for more wins to elevate an otherwise dismal campaign.
However, they received a major confidence boost ahead of their meeting with the Magpies, having handed league-leading Arsenal a 2-1 loss at the Emirates.
The Kings Park outfit have been unable to muster a win since early February, although they would take comfort in holding Manchester United to a 2-2 deadlock.
In other results from before the March international break, the Cherries held Burnley to a goalless draw and recorded an identical result against Brentford.
Bournemouth’s run of draws at their home ground, the Vitality Stadium, began at the end of February, when they played to a 1-1 result against Sunderland.
The Cherries have also kept their hopes alive, sitting level on points with Newcastle, lagging by a single goal, and trail seventh-placed Brentford by four points.

Key Players to Watch
- Eli Junior Kroupi: As Bournemouth aim for an important win as the EPL run-in continues, the French forward has been the primary attacker with nine goals. Kroupi could be given the starting role more often in the final weeks of the season, having started just 14 times in 26 appearances.
- Marcos Senesi: One of the highest-rated players for the Cherries this season, the Argentinian defender has been consistent, affecting good numbers in interceptions, tackles, ball recoveries, and clearances. Senesi’s role in the backline is only set to intensify as his team looks at moving into the top half of the table.
- Marcus Tavernier: Another standout of the Bournemouth season has been the English midfielder, who has notched five goals and four assists in 24 starts. Tavernier has been decent defensively, although his team will be relying more on his ability to score as the final English top flight weeks play out.
Bournemouth News
The team has no recent injuries, although Argentinian defender, Julio Soler, has been out of action since January 2026, alongside midfielder Justin Kluivert.
Predicted Line-Ups

Suggested Bets
Premier League sportsbooks have provided football betting strategies heading into the top flight clash.
Both Teams to Score - Yes: In their last five games, no matter the result Newcastle has scored every time, while Bournemouth had mustered draws against four successive opponents (6/13 with LuckyMate) (9/20 with BetNero)
Value Bets
Goals - Under 2.5: Bournemouth’s recent results have included low-scoring and goalless draws. Despite having the better of head-to-heads against Newcastle, this is likely to be a low-scoring affair (8/5 with BetNero) (91/100 with Bet Vickers)
Newcastle United vs AFC Bournemouth Prediction: Teams to Draw
Newcastle and Bournemouth are likely to approach this game cautiously, with the home team all too aware of potentially being overtaken by Crystal Palace.
The Cherries would also be wary of the likes of Fulham and Sunderland, who could thwart any plans to move into the top half of the Premier League table.
Newcastle United vs Bournemouth betting odds indicate a narrow win for Newcastle at home, although our prediction is a draw that benefits neither team.
