Wolves Strike Midnite Shirt Sponsorship Deal Ahead Of Premier League Gambling Ban
Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. have just announced a new front-of-shirt partnership with betting operator Midnite. The deal will see Midnite become Wolves’ principal partner for the 2026/27 season. This means the operator’s branding will appear across both the men’s and women’s first-team shirts during the club’s 150th anniversary campaign.

Wolves Strike Midnite Shirt Sponsorship Deal
This sponsorship announcement happens to come ahead of a major shift in Premier League gambling sponsorship rules.
Timing of the Sponsorship Deal
The agreement arrives less than a year before Premier League clubs are due to voluntarily withdraw gambling sponsors from the front of matchday shirts[1]. The ban, agreed by Premier League clubs in 2023, comes into effect from the 2026/27 campaign and will remove one of the most visible forms of betting advertising in English football[2].
Sleeve sponsorships, pitchside advertising, and other commercial partnerships (with gambling brands) will still be permitted. However, front-of-shirt deals have become increasingly sensitive amid ongoing regulatory pressure, causing for a call to remove them.
Of course, the sponsorship deal comes just after Wolves were relegated. The additional funds will no doubt be useful - and this sponsorship couldn’t have existed if Wolves had remained in the Premier League, presumably softening the blow somewhat.
It’s not unlikely that we’ll see gambling brands continue to invest heavily in football sponsorship despite the approaching restrictions. But, it’s also likely that Championship clubs could become increasingly attractive commercial opportunities for gambling operators once the Premier League ban takes effect.
Midnite’s Sponsorship Successes
Wolves is far from Midnite’s first sports sponsorship deal. The betting site has expanded aggressively across football and wider sport over the past year. They’ve already partnered with Sheffield United, Southampton, and the World Snooker Tour.
For the Wolves partnership, Midnite has big plans. They’re proposing a fan-focused activation called ‘This Season’s On Us’. This will see supporters given the chance to win season tickets and shirts through a promotional event involving former Wolves defender George Elokobi.
Midnite head of brand marketing Andrew Mook said the company was ‘honoured’ to sponsor Wolves during such a significant year in the club’s history.
