What Is Gold Bar Roulette Live?

In July 2022, Evolution released Gold Bar Roulette, a new live casino game. The studio is designed to look like a gold bar vault. The game has a live dealer. It’s played with European roulette, which has 37 numbers (1-36 and 0). You also have the option to use multipliers to place your bets.

For straight-up bets, a typical player would receive 19 to 1 odds; however, they can earn Gold Bars with an 88x payout for every Gold Bar won. Gold Bars won can be used anytime and on any bet (You may combine your Gold Bars on multiple bets, creating a payout that is greater than 264 / 352). The introduction of Gold Bars introduces a strategy into your decision-making for balancing risk and chance while playing this game.

RTP, House Edge & Volatility

Gold Bar Roulette Live has a 97.10% RTP, which is lower than European Roulette's 97.30%. The house edge of 2.90% is what causes the lower straight-up payout (19:1 instead of 35:1). Gold Bars set out to offset the 2.90% house edge, but do not affect their mathematical long-term return.

Volatility is high in this game; expect to experience periods of long losses mixed with large wins when you hit a stack of Gold Bars. If you do NOT use the Gold Bars to play, the volatility is low, and your actual payout value will decrease over time. If you want to access the high-volatility “spikes,” you will have to actively play with Gold Bars.

Bankroll Notes: The volatile nature of the game means you should consider your early days to be "bar-building" periods. Don't try to recover your losses by betting large.

How the Gold Bars & Bonus Round Work

There isn't a traditional bonus round, but rather a perpetual opportunity to win (and spend) Gold Bars via continuous cycles of winning and spending Gold Bars. 

To win Gold Bars, at the beginning of each spin, the dealer will empty one of 4 lockers, revealing the number of Gold Bars available to win (typically between 1 and 20). 

If your Straight-Up bet is a winning bet, then you will win the Gold Bars from that round - the average of the total winning bets from that round determines the value of each Gold Bar that you win. 
The winnings will be added to your balance and stored there for 180 days.

Gold Bars Bankroll betting can be placed by clicking a Straight-Up Number and selecting a Gold Bar (worth 88x) instead of a regular chip. 

You can have multiple Gold Bars stacked on a single number, and if that number is hit, the total payout will be 176x with two bars, and it continues that way for each additional bar placed.
Maximum Payout:  The maximum total win that can be obtained from Gold Bars and chips on every spin is capped at £500,000.

Strategy & Playing Tips

Finding out how to play live roulette, and the best strategies to use is key. I tried this strategy on 5 different occasions/ sessions, using a £200 budget. There was no way to guarantee the outcome of this strategy, as with any strategy, but in terms of managing variance and getting at least 2 really good hits, it was successful.

• 1st Round - In the first of my sessions, I covered the entire table with minimal straight-up bets. I would make 16-unit wagers on each spin, but I won Gold Bars at least once during this first session, which established my initial Gold Bar balance.
• 2nd Round - With approximately 10 Gold Bars now on my balance, I switched to a "third of the wheel" method of wagering (betting on every third number). With this method, I had a 1/3 chance of winning a Gold Bar while spending less per spin.
• 3rd Round - I was ready to attack. Now that I had a decent amount of Gold Bars in my balance, I placed 2-3 Gold Bars on the "hot" numbers on the statistic board, along with cash wagers beside them.
• 4th Round - I saved some Gold Bars to stack on a single high-risk number (e.g., 7 and 23), while covering the rest of the table with cash wagers to provide a continued flow of Gold Bars.

What Not to Do:

Do not chase your losses - I had one session where I lost 10 spins in a row; if I'd doubled up, I would have been out of cash.

• Do not forget about the Gold Bars you've earned - Gold Bars will expire 180 days after they've been earned, so you must continue to use your Gold Bars and not hoard them forever.
  Bet sensibly - Use the site's deposit limits. I set a maximum daily loss of £50 before playing to help me stick to my strategy & not play from emotions.
