Alex Scott is at the centre of high stakes contract talks as Bournemouth scramble to keep their rising star out of the clutches of the Premier League’s biggest hitters, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The highly-rated 22-year-old midfielder has lit up the season with a string of eye catching displays, firmly establishing himself as one of the brightest young talents in the country.

His form has set alarm bells ringing at Manchester United, who are leading the race, while Chelsea have also made firm enquiries about a potential summer swoop.

Scott’s current deal, signed after his £25 million move in August 2023, is due to expire next year.

Despite committing to a long term contract at the time, the Guernsey born playmaker now wants improved terms that reflect his rapid rise and growing influence at the club.

He has made 38 appearances this season, scoring four goals and driving Bournemouth’s unlikely push for European football.

With just two games to go, the Cherries sit sixth and are still dreaming of a place in Europe, although Villa hold the advantage in the race for a Champions League spot.

Scott has not officially been named in England’s final World Cup squad, but is hoping Thomas Tuchel will include him when he announces his final 26 man squad on May 22.

PRIZED ASSET

And the Cherries are determined not to lose their prized asset and are pushing hard to reach an agreement before interest escalates further.

The club view Scott as central to their future, especially with the midfielder expected to be part of the England squad heading into this summer’s World Cup.

Scott’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. After making 91 appearances for Bristol City, he has now racked up 192 career games, including 86 in the Premier League for the Cherries over the past three seasons.

On the international stage, he has represented England at every youth level from under 18 through to under 21, winning the European Under 19 Championship in 2022 and later the Under 21 European Championship with a golden generation tipped for stardom.

He has also shown resilience, battling back from a meniscus injury earlier in his Bournemouth career to hit top form again.

While Manchester United and Chelsea continue to circle, Scott is understood to be happy on the south coast and keen to see how far the Cherries can go.

But with the spotlight growing and the pressure building, Bournemouth know they are in a race against time to secure the future of their midfield star.
