Bournemouth are ready to scupper Everton’s move for Maxine Estéve with a swoop of their own, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Cherries are on the look out for defensive reinforcements once again with Argentinian Marco Senesi leaving the club at the end of the season.
It follows the losses of Dean Huijsen, Ilya Zaparnyi and Milos Kerkez last summer.
Our sources have been told Estéve is high up the Cherries’ wish list as they look to replace Senesi at the end of the season.
Despite Burnley’s relegation, Estéve proved he is a quality operator at the heart of defence this term and has caught the eye of a number of potential suitors.
Bournemouth’s recruitment team are believed to view Estéve as one of the standout defensive performers outside the Premier League’s top half this season.
As was first exclusively revealed by SportsBoom, Everton boss David Moyes has been a long-time admirer of the Frenchman.
AC Milan held a strong interest in the player, but are understood to have moved on to other targets.
However, Bayern Munich, managed by former Burnley boss Vincent Kompany, the man who brought Estéve to Turf Moor on an initial loan deal, have been linked with the 23-year-old from Montpellier.
Rising Star Set For European Berth
Bournemouth bosses are hopeful European football would be able to convince the defender to move to the South Coast over Merseyside.
Estéve penned a brand new five-year deal with the club ahead of their Premier League return last summer and is contracted to the club until 2030.
Burnley are hopeful of securing at least £20million for his services despite their relegation back to the Championship.
Everton are also in the market for wing-backs as Moyes looks to revamp at the back, whilst Bournemouth are still yet to announce who their new manager will be after Andoni Iraola confirmed he would be leaving the club this summer.
Editor's Insight
With Maxime Estéve looking increasingly likely to leave Burnley this summer, hedging your bets on the Frenchman securing a Premier League move appears a smart play. The bigger question is where he lands, with Bournemouth arguably the most attractive option on paper given the likelihood of European football, although Everton could appeal if Estéve prefers to remain in the north of England.
