Wrexham are at the front of the queue for Leicester City’s Harry Winks, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Winks has been part of the Foxes’ calamitous campaign, which could see them relegated to League One amid financial troubles this season.

But the £10million signing has proven quality and our sources understand there are a number of viable suitors for his signature this summer.

Sources close to the situation have told SportsBoom that Winks has interest from a trio of Championship clubs, with Wrexham leading the hunt.

It is understood Wrexham’s interest is based on them missing out of an unprecedented fourth straight promotion.

Our sources have been told higher ups at the club have been drafting transfer target lists for both eventualities in recent weeks ahead of an assault on the transfer window when it reopens.

Phil Parkinson’s side are now four points off the play-off pace after their 2-0 defeat at Birmingham City on Sunday.

It could be a devastating blow in their fairytale story, which has faltered in recent weeks.

They have won just one of their last five games to slip out of the top six as Parkinson’s charges have seemingly run out of gas at a critical juncture of their season.

Winks’ quality remains clear, with Premier League side Burnley also showing interest in the midfielder last summer and even weighing up a potential swoop for the former Tottenham man.

Leicester Exits Aplenty

Winks was an eight-figure signing at the King Power Stadium in 2023, when he penned a three-year deal from Spurs.

The Foxes triggered a one-year contract extension after his first year at the club, meaning he has a season left on his deal in the Midlands.

And it is understood Leicester are ready to recoup a fee for the 30-year-old following their relegation to the third tier.

There will be a mass overhaul of the playing squad this summer as City tighten their belts accordingly.
