Aarón Escandell will leave Real Oviedo this summer as a number of suitors circle, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Spanish stopper has been one of the only bright sparks during a tough campaign for Oviedo.

Escandell helped the club to promotion to La Liga last term as they ended their decade-long stint in the Segunda.

But as expected, they have struggled on their return to the Spanish top flight and are currently sat at the foot of the table, six points off safety.

Our sources have been told that Escandell does not want to return to the Segunda after a string of fine performances in La Liga.

Despite Oviedo winning just six league games this term, the 30-year-old has impressed between the sticks and that has attracted the attention of the likes of Valencia and Mallorca domestically.

It is also understood that Nottingham Forest could make a move to bring the experienced stopper in as their number two.

English Interest

There was previously Premier League interest in the form of West Ham United during the winter window, although they have employed Mads Hermansen as their number one in recent months and enjoyed an upturn in performances.

With the futures of Łukasz Fabiański, who left the club at the end of last season before returning after the departure of Wes Foderingham, and Alphonse Areola, who wants to be a first choice gloveman, up in the air the Hammers could revisit their interest.

Championship-bound Wolverhampton Wanderers are also understood to be contemplating a move with José Sá set to leave the club at the end of the campaign.

Escandell penned a contract extension in October and is under terms with Oviedo until next summer.

It is understood Oviedo value the player around the €5million mark and would want to receive a fee for the keeper this year rather than lose him as a free agent next summer.
