Professional background

Daniel has always loved the craft of writing, so much so that he completed a degree in English Language and Literature. Armed with a deeper understanding of the English language, Daniel combined his passion for poker with his penchant for words.

Despite being a poker player in his spare time, Daniel lacked experience as a professional writer. He rectified this by producing free content for Pokernews and WPT Poker Magazine. This gave him the experience needed to land a full-time job at WPT Poker Magazine in 2008.

Starting as a features writer, he learned the art of creating compelling copy. Eventually, Daniel’s experience as a pro poker player saw him take charge of the magazine’s strategy section. Working with other pros and industry experts, he compiled and wrote dozens of insightful strategy articles every month.

After leaving WPT Poker Magazine, Daniel used his knowledge of poker strategy concepts to master other forms of gambling, including casino games and sports betting. This allowed him to produce upwards of 3,000 articles for ics-Digital, a marketing agency that works with brands such as PokerStars and Paddy Power.

Today, Daniel has worked for all the industry’s leading online publications. From poker strategy and casino game guides to sports betting previews for talkSPORT, he’s covered the gambling industry from all angles.

What Makes Daniel An Expert

After discovering poker at university in 2005, Daniel became part of Collin Moshman’s stable of pros. From there, Daniel worked for WPT Poker Magazine as a features writer and strategy editor. Daniel eventually parlayed his knowledge of odds, outs, and card combinations to master casino games and sports betting. This led him to become an accomplished writer on all forms of gambling.

Daniel’s Top Tips

Look for inconsistencies: Daniel knows that bookmakers make mistakes. Your job is to find spots where the price doesn’t match the outcome based on your analysis. Use different sites for different sports: Daniel advises you to shop around because some betting sites offer betting odds for football and horse racing, while others are better for baseball and tennis. Don’t ignore bonuses and always read the terms: Daniel knows that the right moves can lead to the wrong results in gambling, which is why you need the bonuses with fair terms and conditions. Money always matters when it comes to betting: Daniel says that the best bettors aren’t always those with the most knowledge. They’re the ones with a disciplined strategy and good bankroll management. Enjoy it!: Daniel stresses the importance of making gambling a form of entertainment. If it’s not fun, stop.

Q&A

Q: Why did you get into the sports betting industry? I’ve grown up with sport. From a young age, I gravitated towards football and sprinting. Getting older, I transitioned to MMA and, most recently, powerlifting. This personal experience with sport complements my interest as a spectator and sports bettor.

Q: What do you think makes a good bettor? Patience and research. Too many people act on impulse in all forms of gambling, including sports betting and poker. Those who take their time and do the necessary research inevitably do better over time.

Q: How do you spot value in the markets? Spotting value requires a holistic strategy. Don’t focus on the odds alone. Read news stories, track recent form, and look back at past results. Build up a complete picture of an event/athlete to get a real reflection of their chances.

Q: What advice would you give someone new to betting? Enjoy yourself, and it’s not a race to become a millionaire. Everyone wants to win, but that shouldn’t come at the cost of your financial or mental health. Always stay within your limits and remember that betting is a form of entertainment.
