Having transferred from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 for a substantial transfer fee of £45 million, Gabriel Jesus has reached an irreversible threshold in his career with the North London side.

The Brazilian star, who became a fan favourite with the "winning identity" and technical skill he brought to the team during Arsenal's championship journeys in recent years, is now facing the loss of his "untouchable" status at the Emirates Stadium. The chronic nature of the severe knee injuries he has suffered and Mikel Arteta's shift toward a physically more dominant center-forward profile in the attacking line are forcing Jesus to seek a new route to save his career.

Tactical Evolution

Arteta’s Arsenal is playing a much different game than when Jesus was first transferred. In the early years, Jesus’s "link-up player" role was vital for wingers Saka and Martinelli to shoulder the scoring burden.

However, the increase in the physical demands of the Premier League and opponents deciphering this play style pushed Arteta to search for a more direct and clinical centre forward.

The fact that names with pivot centre forward characteristics capable of establishing physical dominance inside the penalty area, such as Viktor Gyökeres, are at the top of the transfer list has directly affected Jesus's future in the team.

Although Jesus is still technically one of the best in the world, the operations he has undergone have hindered his famous explosive speed and the pressing power that harassed defensive lines.

This situation has caused the player to fall behind Kai Havertz and new transfer targets in the squad hierarchy.

The summer of 2026 will be the point where this knot is untied, both in terms of the player's desire for "regular playing time" and the club's financial balance.

Global Interest

Jesus's prestige in the market is still at a very high level despite his dip in form and injuries. There are four different strategic options on the table for the experienced forward.

Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus want to add technical depth to their attacking lines. In contacts established with Jesus’s representatives, Milan is investigating how well the player can adapt to Italy’s more controlled and tactical game. Italy stands out as a league where Jesus can use his worn-out physique more efficiently.

Saudi Pro League representatives are ready to offer "astronomical" packages far above the figures Jesus could receive in Europe. This move could both meet Arsenal's transfer fee expectations and satisfy the player's salary expectations. Among leaked information is that clubs like Al-Hilal or Al-Nassr want to position the Brazilian star as a "brand face."

Big clubs from Brazil such as Palmeiras and Flamengo are testing the waters to bring Jesus back to his country before he turns 30. Although this option is currently seen as a low probability due to the player's belief that he still has something to prove at the elite level in Europe, family reasons could change this situation.

For Jesus, who has established his life in London, sides like West Ham United or Aston Villa could be an exit door. West Ham, in particular, is lying in wait to add a leader with Premier League experience to its attacking line.

Wage Burden and Transfer Negotiations

The Arsenal management plans to use the resources from Jesus’s sale for a new "number nine" transfer. Financial auditors within the club have reported that the player's wage burden has become disproportionate to his performance.

Earning 265,000 Pounds per week, Jesus is among the highest-paid players in the Premier League. This massive figure is the biggest obstacle, especially for Italian clubs that manage their budgets carefully. Arsenal is ready to show flexibility in the transfer fee to get rid of this wage burden.

The fact that he will have one year left on his contract (June 2027) weakens Arsenal's bargaining power. The club is expected to say "yes" to an offer between 30-35 million Euros. Although this figure is below the 45 million Pounds paid in 2022, it will be considered a strategic success in terms of amortisation and financial clearance.
