At the worst possible moment, Newcastle’s season seems to be taking a turn for the worse, with the “Magpies” suffering four consecutive defeats in all competitions and showing signs of collapse following their Champions League elimination by Barcelona.
Concern is growing, although Eddie Howe continues to insist he has the full backing of the board. However, the final verdict will come at the end of the season.
TZOLIS’ NUMBERS CAUGHT NEWCASTLE’S ATTENTION
For now, despite Newcastle sitting 14th in the table and five points behind 10th-placed Everton, planning for next season is already underway.
According to exclusive information from SportsBoom, Christos Tzolis is among the wingers Newcastle are monitoring, under one condition.
What is that condition? The departure of Anthony Gordon via a permanent transfer. In recent days, it has consistently been reported that the England international is a target for Bayern Munich, while also attracting intense interest from Manchester United.
If that sale goes through, Newcastle will look to replace him with a young, promising winger with similar characteristics.
This is where Tzolis enters the discussion, as he is enjoying an excellent season with Club Brugge.
He made 26 appearances during the regular league season, registering nine goals and 13 assists.
In the first three Play-Off matches, he has been the standout performer, contributing to five goals, scoring two and assisting three.
Newcastle are seriously considering the possibility of bringing him back to England.

How easy is this deal? Certainly not easy.
He is under contract until 2029, his market value is around €30 million, and Club Brugge would undoubtedly demand even more to let him leave.
Therefore, Newcastle may need to spend more than 50% of the fee they would receive from Gordon’s potential sale to secure the Greek winger.
That said, Newcastle are not alone in the race. Crystal Palace have been monitoring him since last year, while Leeds United are also linked with him, provided they manage to stay in the Premier League.
HE LOVES BLACK AND WHITE – BUT THERE’S A CONDITION
However, SportsBoom understands that the idea of joining Newcastle would particularly appeal to him, as it is a historic club with passionate supporters, an impressive stadium, and the clear ambition of returning to European competitions.
One positive factor for Newcastle in this case? His previous experience in England.
It is worth recalling that in the summer of 2021, Norwich City made him the most expensive signing in their history, paying £11.5 million to acquire him from PAOK.
With the “Canaries”, Tzolis made a total of 30 appearances in all competitions, recording three goals, and two assists.
His standout moment, of course, was his debut in the League Cup, where he scored twice and provided two assists in a huge 6-0 win over Bournemouth.
Could Newcastle dress Tzolis in black and white, his favourite colours, which he also wore in Greece with PAOK?
Everything depends on the future of Gordon. Newcastle certainly have other names on their list, but the Greek winger is definitely on their radar.
