Newly-promoted Cardiff City are on the verge of signing Nathan Trott, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Copenhagen keeper played a pivotal role in helping the Bluebirds bounce straight back to the Championship via automatic promotion this season.

He kept 16 clean sheets during his 41 League One appearances last term, including going 484 minutes without conceding a league goal at the start of the campaign.

It is understood Cardiff have an option to make the deal permanent for £1.5million with talks at an advanced stage between all parties.

The 27-year-old recently deleted all of his Copenhagen pictures off his social media profiles, which signals his time at the Danish club is over.

Our sources have been told there are a number of Championship clubs rivalling Cardiff for his signature, despite the clause in his loan deal.

In other news, Cardiff City are also battling to tie down defender Joel Bagan to a new long-term contract amid growing interest from Premier League clubs Sunderland and Ipswich Town.

England Return

Copenhagen signed the Bermudian stopper for £1.3million when he penned a four-year deal in 2024.

But he has failed to breakthrough at the club, featuring just 17 times in the Danish Superliga.

Having come through the ranks at West Ham United, Trott made just a solitary cup appearance for the Hammers and spent time on loan at AFC Wimbledon, Nancy and Vejle.

He helped Vejle get promoted from the Danish First Division and during his first season at Copenhagen, the club achieved a league and cup double.

But a return to English soil with Cardiff really saw the keeper thrive as Cardiff earned promotion back to the Championship.

Speaking about the stopper, boss Brian Barry-Murphy said: “I think he's done great over the course of the season and we're very grateful to have him.”

It is understood Cardiff are also looking for a number of signings to strengthen their squad for their Championship challenge this summer.
