Leeds United vs Wolves Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Leeds have been an exciting team to watch this season with their combination of resilience and fearless attacking football. Although they have faced some minor setbacks and inconsistencies this season, they have managed to remain above the relegation zone. If they can improve their efficiency in the final third, they will become a much more complete and consistent team.

In the FA Cup round of 16, Leeds were drawn against Championship outfit Norwich. Daniel Farke’s side approached this game with far more attacking intent than they showed in previous outings and advanced to the next round after comfortably blowing the Canaries away. This was one of their more complete performances, front-foot football, high tempo, and in control.

At Selhurst Park, it was a very different type of performance – gritty, chaotic, and ultimately about survival. With not much attacking threat after being reduced to 10 men, the Whites defended resolutely to hold on for a point against Crystal Palace. Back at Elland Road, Leeds shared the spoils with Brentford. Both creativity and tempo were lacking as they failed to score for the fourth league game in succession.

Away to West Ham in their FA Cup quarterfinal clash, Farke’s side were clinical but vulnerable under pressure. Even as the Hammers forced the game to a penalty shootout, the Whites regained composure to win and secure a place in the last four. Previously, the matchup against fierce rivals Man United was another fascinating contest that sharpened their approach ahead of facing Wolves. 

You have to say, it’s been a disappointing season overall for Wolves – they haven’t met the standards required to compete in the Premier League. That said, recent performances suggest there is still pride in the shirt. Late winners, improved intensity, and resilience point to a side that has not thrown in the towel, even with relegation looming large. 

Against Aston Villa, Wolves produced one of their most complete performances of the season. They were compact, disciplined, and difficult to break down. Even though Villa had spells of possession, they struggled to create clear chances. Once Wolves took the lead, they showed maturity, slowing the tempo down to hold on for a huge victory and bragging rights in the West Midlands derby. 

After winning the derby, Wolves followed up with another remarkable display at home against Liverpool. Having disrupted the Reds’ rhythm and build-up play, Rob Edwards’ side were aggressive on the counterattacks, resulting in another inspiring victory. However, just days later, Liverpool recovered from the league defeat and knocked Wolves out of the FA Cup with a commanding victory.

Back to league action, an away assignment against Brentford was on the cards, and despite the loss against the Reds previously, they showed character to bounce back with a well-deserved draw with The Bees. But, for whatever reason, they returned from the international break and got humbled by West Ham, a performance that must be dissected and rectified as they aim to trouble Leeds on the day.
