Powerball Expands to UK With Bigger Jackpots
The Powerball jackpot is set to grow faster than ever after confirmation that UK players will be able to take part from summer 2026. This exciting new step is the first time the US-based lottery will expand beyond domestic borders, bringing British players into the same jackpot pool as those in the United States.

Powerball Expands to UK With Bigger Jackpots
The agreement was struck between the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which operates Powerball, and Allwyn UK, the licensed operator of The National Lottery.
UK Entry Expected to Accelerate Jackpot Growth
By adding UK participation, the number of contributing lotteries will increase, and the hope is to expand the player base significantly. Officials say this larger pool of participants will allow jackpots to climb more quickly, without interrupting the core structure of the game.
Included in the core structure is the $2 ticket price and the long-standing odds of winning the jackpot, which remain at 1 in 292.2 million. Draw mechanics will also stay the same, with players selecting five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26.
MUSL representatives described the move as a ‘win’ for players globally, pointing to the fact that there’s a direct link between participation levels and the growth of that jackpot. With millions of additional entries expected from the UK, headline prize figures should rise at a faster rate between draws.
Regulatory Approval Still Required
While the UK rollout is expected later this summer, it’s still pending final approval from the UK Gambling Commission. Once approved, the UK will join the thrice-weekly Powerball draws from Florida.
Allwyn UK CEO Andria Vidler said the addition of Powerball will help to modernise the UK lottery offering, bringing ‘more innovation and excitement’ to UK players.
